Gemini 4 Argon just dropped, & I've been testing it nonstop.

My favorite trick so far: upload a sketch & get a working app back, with no coding.

Here's how I did it with a game sketch. You could use the same steps for any idea you can draw.

How We Used Gemini 4 Argon To Turn A Sketch Into A Playable Game

Gemini 4 Argon Is Here: 12 Jaw Dropping Demos

You draw a simple game on paper, upload the sketch to Gemini 4 Argon, and get a playable version that looks like the drawing. It runs right in the preview, so there's no developer or game software involved. That’s what Google’s new Gemini model is capable of.

What Gemini 4 Argon Can Do

Hand it a picture, & it builds from what it sees.

✅ Reads your sketch, photo, or floor plan & builds from it
✅ Runs the finished app in a Canvas preview, so there's nothing to download
✅ Follows long instructions, even how the mouse or keyboard should work
✅ Connects to Google tools without setup, e.g., it built a Google Sheet comparing five party venues
✅ Moves fast: our Rome build took about five minutes, versus over an hour in Claude

How We Did It

Here's how we turned a quick sketch into a playable game. If you can draw an idea, you could use the same steps.

1. Pick Gemini 4 Argon & set thinking to high

Open the Gemini app & choose Gemini 4 Argon in the model picker, which sits in the same place as before. You'll see three thinking levels: low, medium, & high. We used high. You'll need a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan.

2. Upload your sketch & ask for a playable game

Attach your sketch & ask Gemini to turn it into a playable game. When your request is this short, Gemini may try to use Nano Banana (its built-in image maker) and hand back a picture instead. That’s why you need Canvas.

3. Tell it to build in Canvas

This step matters most. Ask again, but say where to build it & how you want to run it. We asked for an interactive app in Canvas that we could play right in the preview:

“Build this in Canvas as an interactive app that runs right here in the preview. Don’t generate an image, and don’t give me a file to download. Include all the code, with no placeholders. Use plain JavaScript and no libraries.

Goal: Make a simple 3D platformer based on the attached sketch. The player runs and jumps across a few floating platforms, collects the coins, and avoids the spike pit. Falling or touching spikes restarts the level.

Controls: arrow keys or WASD to move, Space to jump.”

4. Play it in the preview

With Canvas, it matched our sketch exactly. We could jump around like Mario & reach the end of the level. If something looks off, tell Gemini what to fix, or ask for a simpler version.

5. Save your wording as a Skill

Open Gemini's settings & go to the Skills tab. Skills are saved instructions Gemini follows, so you never repeat yourself. Add one with your Canvas wording, & your next build starts from a ready prompt.

Use Cases

If you can sketch it or upload it, you could turn it into something you can click.

Real Estate: Upload a floor plan & get a house clients can walk through on screen

Construction: Model how much weight different roof sections hold, with numbers you can change

Events: Ask Gemini to search venues & put five side by side in a Google Sheet

Admin: Drop in text files, a Word doc, & an image to get a clean presentation back

Creators: Ask for a music studio app & get one with controls like GarageBand's

Bonus Tips

Spell out how it should work: Our long prompts included details like how to use the mouse or keyboard, & Gemini followed them. Tell it how you'd click, type, or move around.

Use chat for quick jobs: We gave Gemini a pile of text files, a Word doc, & an image to turn into a presentation. Chat finished in about a minute. Tasks ran 30 minutes with nothing to show, though that may have been us.

Add a design reference to your Skill: Our deck looked plain because we gave no design examples. Attach a sample PowerPoint to a Skill, & every new deck follows your look.
