How We Used Chatbase to Embed a Custom Chatbot
We explored Chatbase to develop a tailored chatbot for a small online retail business. The goal was to enhance customer support and streamline product recommendations, offering users a seamless experience without leaving the website.

How We Did It
Here's how we created and embedded a custom chatbot using Chatbase, or as they call it “AI Agent”, to improve customer interaction on our site.
1 – Create a Chatbase Account
We signed up for a free account on Chatbase to get started, which was straightforward and quick.
2 – Start a New AI Agent
After logging in, we accessed the chatbot creation page and clicked “New AI Agent” to initiate the process.
3 – Add Your Knowledge Base
We trained the chatbot using our business data. This involved uploading product catalogs and linking our website URL for comprehensive data integration.

4 – Customize Your Chatbot
We chose GPT-4o-mini to power our chatbot (it’s the cheapest, yet still very effective), configured specific prompts to reflect our brand's tone, and adjusted settings for optimal response creativity.
5 – Test Your Chatbot
Using Chatbase's playground, we interacted with the chatbot to ensure it provided accurate responses. We made adjustments to prompts and settings as needed.
6 – Publish and Embed Your Chatbot
Once satisfied, we used the generated HTML iframe code to embed the chatbot directly onto our website, choosing the script option to display a chat bubble.

7 – Add Code to Your Website
We pasted the script code into the “custom HTML” section of our website builder, integrating the chatbot seamlessly into our site layout.
8 – Keep Your Chatbot Updated
And now, we regularly update the chatbot’s knowledge base with new product information, whether that be uploading new documents, or recrawling our site. Ensuring it remained a valuable resource for users.
