At its DevDay this week, OpenAI handed ChatGPT a crew of agents it calls dots. Each one runs on its own computer, keeps a project moving while you are off doing something else, and pings you only when a decision needs you. It is live for ChatGPT Pro and Business users now, so you can hand off a multi-step job and come back to real progress.

💥 Big News

At DevDay this week, OpenAI launched dots: always-on ChatGPT agents that each run on their own cloud computer and carry out multi-step work across the apps you connect. A dot remembers where a project stands, works out the next step on its own, and checks in with you when a call needs your judgment.

OpenAI dots, always-on ChatGPT agents that run multi-step work on their own

💡 Why It Matters

  • Live now: rolling out to ChatGPT Pro & Business users in supported regions (not free, & not the EEA, UK or Switzerland yet)

  • Works on its own: each dot runs multi-step jobs in the background & brings results back for review

  • Where you work: connect your tools & message a dot like a coworker

Anthropic's new Claude Sonnet 5.5 is built to finish work, not just start it. In Anthropic's own testing it drafted a 10-slide operating review reviewers judged ready to send as is, and it turns out documents, slides, and spreadsheets that need little cleanup, about 30% faster than the last Sonnet.

💡 Why It Matters

  • Send-ready drafts: makes slides, docs & spreadsheets that need minimal editing

  • Faster: about 30% quicker than the last Sonnet

  • Live now: in the Claude apps & on every major cloud today

Google announced Gemini 4 Argon, its first Gemini 4 model, built for long, multi-step work like coding and research. It can turn out much longer, more complex results in one pass than before, and Google says it edges out the leading models on coding and security tests.

💡 Why It Matters

  • Bigger jobs: handles long, multi-step work & returns much more in one pass

  • Early access only: open to cyber-defense partners now, broader access promised with no date yet

  • Benchmark lead: Google says it tops the leading models on a coding test (its own numbers)

✨ Weekly Spotlight

OpenAI's dots Just Landed. Here's What It Actually Does.

Futurepedia's dots guide, what OpenAI's dots means, what it replaces, and what to do with it

OpenAI just added a new layer to ChatGPT called dots — and it's a bigger shift than another model bump. Instead of answering one question at a time, a dot takes on an ongoing responsibility and keeps working on it between conversations, checking back in only when a decision actually needs your judgment.

Our free guide breaks down:

  • What dots actually is: what changed and why it matters

  • What it replaces (and what it doesn't): dots sits on top of ChatGPT Work and Codex, not instead of them, so you're not relearning tools you already use.

  • 3 ways to use it on day one: copy-paste hand-offs for keeping deals moving, keeping content ahead, and answering your audience.

No hype, no guesswork. Just the breakdown you need before this shows up in every meeting you're already in.
